Event – From Prisoner to Social Worker: A Story of Recovery & Redemption

Join the Wesleyan Center for Prison Education (CPE) for a talk by David Deutsch, MSW/ASW about his journey from prison to social work and the values of prison education.

David Deutsch is a Clinical Director for Telecare Corporation in Ventura, California. He started a forensic program in 2011 for persons coming out of the state prison system who have mental health needs. David has worked with the forensic population since 2000 when he himself was a prisoner in San Quentin State Prison. He was released in late 2003 and has worked with former prisoners ever since that time. His scope of practice includes mental health/substance abuse counseling, working with the homeless and mentally ill population, and working with persons who have spent most of their lives in situations of incarceration. He is a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor and he earned his MSW from California State University, Long Beach in 2010.
